In this joomla video tutorial we will be installing joomla 3x template and setting joomla 3x template as default. ( Joomla 3.0, Joomla 3.1 ). First, you have to download a joomla template. I recommend you should download best free joomla templates on my site. I collected many free joomla templates, you can find a joomla template by clicking above link.
Installing joomla 3x template and make it as default
1. Installing joomla template
Step 1: Log into the back-end of your site (www.your-site.com/administrator/)
Step 2: Click on: Extensions -> Extension Manager
You see the page “Extension Manager” looks like this
From here you can install joomla templates, plugins, modules, components and languages. You have three options:
- Upload Package File – (select a package from your PC, upload and install it).
- Install from Directory – (enter the path where the package is located on your server).
- Install from URL – (enter the URL to the package).
I recommend you should use the first method (Upload Package File).
Step 3: Click on Choose File button to select the package from your PC then click the button “Upload File & Install”
If the package contains no errors you are done and get a success message like the one below.
2. Setting joomla template as default
Step 1: Click on: Extensions -> Template Manager
You see the page “Template Manager” looks like this
Step 2: Select the template that you want to set it as default then click “Make Default”.
