Installing joomla template in Joomla 2.5

In this joomla video tutorial we will be installing joomla template and setting joomla template as default in Joomla 2.5. First, you have to download a joomla template. I recommend you should download best free joomla templates on my site. I collected many free joomla templates, you can find a joomla template by clicking above link.

1. Installing joomla template

Step 1: Log into the back-end of your site (www.your-site.com/administrator/)

Step 2: Click on: Extensions -> Extension Manager

You see the page “Extension Manager” looks like this

From here you can install joomla templates, plugins, modules, components and languages. You have three options:

  1. Upload Package File – (select a package from your PC, upload and install it).
  2. Install from Directory – (enter the path where the package is located on your server).
  3. Install from URL – (enter the URL to the package).

I recommend you should use the first method (Upload Package File).

Step 3: Click on Choose File button to select the package from your PC then click the button “Upload File & Install

If the package contains no errors you are done and get a success message like the one below.

2. Setting joomla template as default

Step 1: Click on: Extensions -> Template Manager

You see the page “Template Manager” looks like this

Step 2: Select the template that you want to set it as default then click “Make Default”.

Look into “Location” column, just select the template for “Site” in Location column.

    Hi phuoc, I have since used your free template called Bizglobal. I have a few problems to customize it. Kindly help me in editing the CSS of the template. Thanks

    First i would like to thank you for your great website.
    Today i downloaded OT Ate Template from your website for my 2.5 joomla and after that i follow your in structure.
    But unfortunately i face the below error:

    JInstaller: :Install: Cannot find Joomla XML setup file
    Path does not have a valid package.”
    I have to mention that i used all the three ways but still the same error.
    I would be grateful if you could help me.
